Eli Lilly and Company to Invest $5 Billion in Goochland County

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Eli Lilly, a global leader in pharmaceutical innovation, will locate its newest state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the West Creek Business Park located in Goochland County. 

The construction of this $5 billion facility is expected to bring 1,800 construction jobs to the region. This investment is greater than the original plans for an investment of slightly over $2 billion.   Once completed, the facility will generate 650 high paying jobs, such as scientists, lab technicians, engineers, and other highly skilled employees.

GRANT OPPORTUNITY TO HELP FUND COST OF ROADWAY SIGNAGE

The purpose of the Goochland County LOGO & Tourist-Oriented Directional Sign (TODS) Grant program is to support businesses and organizations in Goochland’s tourism industry with advertising and directional signage to drive visitors to tourist locations in the County. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) regulates the size, location, and type of signage along public roads by requiring permits. There are annual fees associated with obtaining these permits.  Small tourism businesses, like restaurants, craft beverage makers, and retail shops typically cannot afford extensive advertising budgets.

This grant initiative is designed to:

• Increase Visibility: Help travelers easily locate your business while navigating Goochland County’s roadways.
• Drive Tourism: Encourage visitation and economic activity by making our attractions and services more accessible.
• Support Your Success: Provide financial assistance to reduce barriers to participation in these vital signage programs.

The Estate at River Run

The Estate at River Run is proud to announce the completion of its newest addition: a state-of-the-art Solar Pavilion, officially unveiled this fall after more than two years of design and almost a full year of construction. The project, which came in at just under $2.2 million, seamlessly merges sustainability with elegance, providing one of the largest open-air, solar-powered event venues in the state—and, to the team's knowledge, the first of its kind in Virginia and surrounding states.

The Estate at River Run is a 22,000-square-foot Georgian Revival mansion situated on 62 acres overlooking the James River in Goochland County, Virginia. Since opening in 2019, the Estate has become an award-winning venue recognized for its elegance, innovation, and guest experience. It has been prominently featured in national outlets such as People Magazine and Inside Weddings, further solidifying its reputation as one of the region’s most distinguished event destinations.
