Economic Development Authority
Goochland EDA Mission:
To attract, cultivate, and retain diverse business in Goochland County by promoting economic growth through commercial, and industrial development while preserving Goochland’s agricultural heritage.
The Economic Development Authority in conjunction with the Economic Development Department creates vitality and quality of life for Goochland citizens and businesses through four critical areas:
- Recruitment of New Business
- Retention and Expansion of Existing Business
- Tourism
- Workforce Development
The EDA is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia created by the County to acquire, own, lease and dispose of properties to promote industry and induce businesses to locate and remain in Goochland. The EDA is authorized to issue revenue bonds to finance facilities for non-profits, manufacturers, and businesses in Goochland County. Neither the EDA nor the County have any liability under the bonds. Liability is assumed by the enterprises for which the facilities are constructed. For more information, click here.
Although the EDA is a separate entity from the Goochland County Department of Economic Development, it works closely to serve the County's business community. Contact Goochland Economic Development staff to learn if the Goochland EDA can assist your business.
Overview
The Goochland County Economic Development Authority meets the fourth Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted.
- Each term is 4 years.
- There is no limit of terms served.
- Comprised of five directors.
- A member of the board of directors of the authority may be removed from office by the local governing body without limitation in the event that the board member is absent from any three consecutive meetings of the authority, or is absent from any four meetings of the authority within any 12-month period.
- No director shall be an officer or employee of the locality. Every director shall, at the time of his appointment and thereafter, reside in a locality within which the authority operates or in an adjoining locality. When a director ceases to be a resident of such locality, the director's office shall be vacant and a new director may be appointed for the remainder of the term.
- Oath of office is required.
