Virginia Works Together - 2024 Workforce Summit

This event will explore how Virginia Works Together. We’ll spend the day at the Hermitage ACE Center (Hermitage High School’s CTE center) for an interactive day of sessions and discussion, featuring remarks from the Governor as well as a number of sessions to learn more about Virginia Works and Virginia’s workforce development ecosystem. Space is extremely limited – save your spot now to connect and engage in dialogue on priority topics, learn about the new Virginia Works agency as well as resources and tools available to help, and build shared commitments for the future of Virginia’s workforce development ecosystem. A series of roundtable discussions and sessions will highlight the critical role that work-based learning plays in workplace readiness, the impact of regional sector partnerships in filling workforce gaps in industries like healthcare and maritime, and how we can work together to articulate the many pathways to success for Virginia’s students.

Treetop Hill truly exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit of Goochland County’s small businesses. Treetop Hill crafts and manufactures homemade soaps that are free of chemicals and additives by using only the best natural ingredients. They are a woman- and veteran-owned business based out of Gum Spring in western Goochland. Starting only a year ago in March 2023, Treetop Hill just celebrated their first business anniversary and has found itself a niche market to grow in.

Many people don’t realize that roughly 20 percent of the ingredients for the soaps that you buy in the store come from chemicals, additives, or preservatives. Treetop Hill’s owner, Lizzy Johnson, set out to create natural soaps that remove these chemical components and are healthy for the skin. With a meticulous manufacturing process, Treetop Hill’s quality control of their products is top-notch. They are able to keep their high quality by making all their soaps in handmade small batches to ensure consistency in every bar of soap produced. In addition, all soaps made by Treetop Hill are PH tested prior to selling to make certain that their customers receive the best product.

Treetop Hill prides itself on the array of products they offer. With cold processed soaps, sugar scrubs, body butters, chapsticks, and more, they try to make something for everyone. They even make scentless soaps for the men and hunters in your family. Their soaps produce a rich lather with a variety of scents like lemongrass, lavender, sandalwood, and cinnamon to name a few.
