2024 Business Appreciation Month and Economic Development Week Celebration in Goochland

For the second year, Goochland County Economic Development will be celebrating business appreciation month and economic development week. The month of May has served as Virginia’s Business Appreciation Month for the past several years; Goochland County is excited to join other Virginia localities in highlighting local businesses and the contributions they make to the local community and Commonwealth of Virginia.

During business appreciation month, Goochland County Economic Development, in conjunction with the Goochland County Economic Development Authority, will be hosting two events:

Small Business Appreciation Event

May 15th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Kindred Spirit Brewing. This event is open to all Goochland based businesses to show appreciation to the Goochland Business Community.

Goochland Business Center Open House

May 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Goochland Business Center, 2931 River Road West, Goochland, VA 23063.  Businesses and citizens can visit with Economic Development Staff to learn more about economic development in the County.

In addition to these events, the Goochland Economic Development team will be visiting various businesses to drop off small tokens of appreciation.

Goochland County Economic Development will also be celebrating Economic Development Week from May 6-10. Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council in 2016 to increase awareness of economic development programs that support local businesses, create jobs, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere. Economic Development Week will be capped off with the Goochland Business Center Open House on May 10.

In addition to the events listed above, Business Appreciation Month and Economic Development Week will include a social media campaign on Goochland County Economic Development’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Make sure to like and follow Goochland County Economic Development social media pages to keep up to date on business appreciation posts and economic development information.

Goochland is home to over 900 businesses, one Fortune 100 company, two Fortune 500 companies, several large regional companies, and hundreds of small businesses employing thousands of workers. These businesses help make Goochland special, drive the local economy, and it is important for the County to show their appreciation to its business community.

Business Spotlight!

Each Month we will spotlight a different Goochland Business!

Page Customs

Off Broad Street Road, in the Goochland Industrial Park, is where one of Goochland’s most unique businesses resides. Page Customs is a custom classic car manufacturer that builds your dream car from scratch. While many think of car restorations when they think of vintage cars, Page Customs focuses on manufacturing the vehicle instead of restoring it. So, if you are looking for a classic Ford or Chevy, you don’t need to go out and find one to bring to them to restore, they will just build you one!

People regularly ask why Page Customs prefers manufacturing the car from scratch instead of restoring them. In the past, they used to use the original bodies from their customers, however, after sand blasting, replacing the rusted metal, and the additional work needed to get the original body into good shape, they found it to be more cost effective to start with a new body. Page Customs takes immense pride in their work, with most of their projects taking over a year to complete. Their projects utilize only the best products from the industry and are put together by hand with attention to every detail. For example, the way they paint their vehicles is extremely meticulous. They sand all their vehicles multiple times by hand, so their projects go through multiple stages just to be painted.   A typical paint job for Page Customs could take up to a few months because of their attention to detail.

Page Customs prides itself on its innovative mindset. With the major supply chain disruptions caused by Covid-19, Page Customs realized they could manufacture some of their own parts. They purchased a CNC machine and got to work manufacturing their own parts. Their parts are of such high quality, they now sell them to similar shops across the country. You can check out these parts on their website!

Page Customs puts a modern twist on classic automobiles, while also putting Goochland on the map in the vintage car world! So, if you want a custom rod that reminds you of your first ride, call Page Customs. They are also always interested in finding new and young workers interested in the automotive industry, so if this is something you would be interested in, make sure to give them a call.
